Camp Objectives:
The Randy Edsall Football Camps are designed to
teach campers the football skills and techniques they need to maximize their
ability. The camps are also organized so that the campers can have fun while
they learn.
The varsity camps will include more team segments where campers will work
as a unit to achieve success on the football field. Both camps will also
include segments on the importance of academics, teamwork, work ethic and
other important intangibles.
7-on-7 One Day Tournament:
We are excited to have the opportunity to host high school coaches and players in The 1st Randy Edsall Football Camp 7-on7 tournament. We look forward to working with you and providing the atmosphere to have great competition between teams from several states. The 7-on7 tournament is an excellent way for high schools to compete against the finest teams from the New England Area. THIS IS FOR HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS ONLY. We will only be able to take the first 24 teams that register.
Location:
All football activities will be held at the
University of Connecticut. The Randy Edsall Football Camp has exclusive use of UConn’s three, full-length grass practice fields. The two hilltop fields received a $900,000 renovation in the summers of 2002 and 2003 and feature new lighting, sod, fencing, and expanded space. In addition the camps will utilize the 85,000 square foot Mark R. Shenkman Training Center. Featuring a 120-yard long state-of-the-art FieldTurf playing surface, 18,000 square foot strength and conditioning area, and state-of-the-art video capabilities, the indoor training center provides the most technologically advanced training equipment.
The Program:
Both camps are four-day programs. They will
include individual instruction periods at every practice, with the youth
camp having an extra emphasis on that aspect. The camps will also have team
segments and competition segments. Campers will be introduced to the weight
room as well as the track. Every aspect of the game of football will be
addressed.
The Staff:
Camp instructors will include the University of Connecticut
Football staff, along with other Division I-A, I-AA, Division 2,
Division 3, and select High School Coaches.
Instructors:
High School coaches may have the chance to work the Randy Edsall Varsity Football Camps if they bring ten or more campers from their high school.
Housing & Food:
All overnight campers will enjoy quality
housing and three healthy meals a day. All housing and meals are supervised,
around the clock, by responsible counselors. Campers will be housed
in Hilltop Suites, one of the newest housing units on campus. Each living
unit contains a spacious double or triple bedroom with a double closet and two large
windows. Each living unit is adjacent to an identical unit with a bathroom
between that is shared by four to six campers, and every room has its own temperature
control. Hilltop Suites are located directly behind the practice fields
and are adjacent to the Putnam Dining Hall.
Supervision:
Counselors will be on duty around-the-clock
to supervise campers in dorms, athletic fields, dining room and all other
areas.
Medical Care:
Certified NATA trainers will be on duty full-time to attend to the needs of campers and will contact parents should the need arise. Each applicant must have a completed physical on file prior to the beginning of camp and must be covered by accident insurance. Please print out this Medical Release and Parental Consent form and return to the Randy Edsall Football Camp 2008; P.O. Box 294; East Glastonbury, CT 06025-0294
